Berlin Transatlantic Forum 2018

Under the theme “Present at the New Creation? Tech. Power. Democracy.”, the Berlin Transatlantic Forum took place for the fifth time on October 16, 2018.

The conference began with a focus on the state of transatlantic relations and in which areas the transatlantic partnership can be deepened despite current differences. The subsequent interview with Governor Philip Murphy addressed current issues in American politics. In the afternoon, the focus shifted to how technology is changing relationships within and between nations. Topics discussed included the dangers of social media and greater transparency through access to data, as well as the threat of cyberattacks and the role of technology in military conflicts.

The public conference attracted over 160 participants.
